Consumer Mentor was developed to address a familiar problem for consumers the world over. Where can I find trustworthy reviews?
Affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing has been a blessing and a curse for the consumer. It created an incentive for website owners to provide reviews and guides for just about any product type you can think of. Whenever someone is looking to buy a product, they need only type its name into google to find a whole host of websites claiming to know the best brand.
Yet, the sincerity of these affiliate sites is not guaranteed. In fact, site owners are financially incentivised to recommend the most expensive products (higher commission) and provide low quality content (cheap writers). This only leads to greater confusion for the consumer, who now has to deliberate on which site to choose, as well as which product. Worse yet, the naive consumer may be tricked into making an incorrect purchasing decision.
Fortunately, Google is constantly improving their algorithms to prevent trickery and prioritise quality content. We look forward to a future where the best strategy for affiliate marketers is to create great content that benefits both website owner and consumer alike.
Our method
Here at Consumer Mentor, for whatever product or product type we review, we aim to create the best such article on the web. Here is our technique:
- Read through our competitors’ articles.
- Do further deep research to fact-check and find more information.
- Collate and condense down to the most important points.
- Select products based on research and customer reviews (not just the price).
- Have our in-house writers produce the article.
Using this process, we hope to provide you with the best content around.
Why we do it
You may wonder, why would we do this? Didn’t we just describe that it is more profitable to create bad content?
We decided to choose a different strategy from most affiliate marketers, a strategy that benefits everyone. By creating quality reviews, we create a community of users that subscribe and come back for more trustworthy consumer advice. Conversely, other affiliate sites get almost 100% of their traffic from search engines as users have no reason to come back. Our strategy takes a little more work, but as well as turning a profit, we hope to make the web a better place for consumers.
